So, my daughter’s secret love is watching Dr. Phil. When he stated the attached, she about jumped through the roof. Don’t get me wrong, she has known that sugar can be as addictive as cocaine for YEARS; (WHO is her mother?????) yet having Dr. Phil make that comment in the same show that a mother in law screamed “I hate you” 9 times to her son in law, did make an impression.
I, Theresa have been saying for nearly thirty years that sugar is as addictive as cocaine, and I guess her seeing it on national TV means that it is true…right?!?!? LOL! So, Dr. Phil apparently put the cocaine brain up next to the sugar brain for like so:
When one consumes sugar abusively, or when one is sensitive, the body lights up under MRI the same centers that cocaine lights up. This is the pleasure part of the brain. They also light up when you look at your child, your spouse or your loved ones. What a powerful part of the brain; but how powerful does that make sugar? No wonder it is hard to walk away from; especially since it is so cheap and easy for producers to put in their products. Also, if it works at triggering the Pleasure center of the brain, then you are more likely to want to eat their products. Again, and again and again – you will do this, especially if its connected to a happy memory of you and a loved one. SO, their profits go up, and you end up hurting your brain and body. Sometimes we need to cut ties, or put space between family members because they are not good for our brain, or they cause negative thinking. Same thing with sugar, sometimes we need to cut ties because it is negative for us. So, we do what we have to. We push the sugar away so that we have and can feel the “natural high” when we look at a puppy or our niece or nephew, or our child.
We choose to eat foods that give our body what it needs, so that we have a clear brain, we have happy moments and choose to make better lives that have more and more happy moments. We want to be free of pain, the cravings and obsessions and be able to build a new life, the life we have dreamed of for so long.
