What Does This Lunar Eclipse Symbolize?

I wanted to post a little early this week because of the lunar eclipse on Tuesday Morning. This is a time when the earth is in the middle between the sun and the moon, and the earth’s shadow is cast on the lunar surface. Depending what part of the world you are in, the time may change; where I live it will be about 4 AM to 7 AM.

From an astrological point of view, Lunar Eclipses can become deeply transformative times causing abrupt and sudden changes. While this is true, there is another side to eclipses that is important to remember. Eclipses are like the cosmic helping hand of the Universe.

Aligning with November’s full moon, this cosmic event will be quite a spectacle. Lunar eclipses are often called Blood Moons because of the hue the face of the moon takes on when it moves into the Earth’s shadow. I cannot wait to see this color; it must be beautiful and unique.

Lunar eclipses are said to expose secrets and truths and may become an exhilarating emotional journey.  This means we might feel called to break out of situations and relationships holding us back.

These strong and abrupt changes in our spirits may make us feel unsure of our lifestyle or choices; listen to this advice but take time to consider before you make major changes.

Chandi says that “The sun and Mercury connect in the morning of Nov. 8, with Uranus opposing Mercury in the evening. These cosmic energies will allow us to see matters from a clearer perspective — even though we may not be ready for the stark light of clarity. Mercury and Venus are urging us to do what makes us happy.”

This particular eclipse also brings up our desires for expansion and growth. It makes us eager for the next chapter in our story and leaves us craving more with each twist and turn. (And wait till I tell you about the changes happening at Renaissance. Your eyebrows will surely go up!) A word of caution: This endless thirst for what’s next can make it easy for us to miss when we’ve already arrived at (or passed) our destination. Write down your goals, so you can keep track of them. Take note when you accomplish an objective, no matter how small you perceive it. Then celebrate yourself generously. Granting yourself moments of accomplishment is crucial to your self-esteem.

It’s easy to go through life repeating the same behaviors and getting stuck in the same old problems. But sometimes you really need to shake things up—whether you’re ready to or not.

Brace yourself for some much-needed change coming your way, courtesy of this full moon. There may be a lot of newness happening in your life—let’s hope it is all good stuff.

Consider this eclipse an invitation to be more candid with yourself and others. This combination of events doesn’t happen every day, every year, or even every decade. As new or hidden information and desires come to your notice, view them as a call to live your life more honestly. It may be less convenient, but the more inconvenient the truth, the more likely we need to evaluate it and make appropriate changes. Consider this eclipse an invitation to be more candid with yourself and others.

A lunar eclipse can be an extremely powerful time for cleansing our emotional waters and setting intention for renewal and rejuvenation in the coming months, because the energetic cycles of the lunar eclipse tend to extend through the period of next three months after its event.

The shadow created by the eclipse may reveal what is hidden in our subconscious or keeping us blocked from seeing more clearly. The spiritual aspects of the moon represent our deep emotional priorities, and so when the shadow passes over the moon, temporarily ceasing the illumination of our emotional being, there is an opportunity to reveal and transform our current emotional state.

The good thing about eclipses is that generally you can trust the direction they are guiding you in. Eclipses may help to bring about events in your life that are part of the cosmic plan, but it is not that the eclipse makes something happen in your life, but that you have the ability to see things more clearly than you have before. These are important times for reflection upon your life, what you need to let go of and move on from.

The energy of a Full Moon is always that of the cycle coming to a crescendo or completion of its influence and essence. The full moon is an opportunity to let go of an aspect of your emotional experience that you have outgrown and a time for anchoring in a new maturity or wisdom that was gained in the previous cycle; it is a perfect time for releasing something that no longer serves you.

Endings are necessary in order to make way for the new; and a Lunar Eclipse is like the final purge or cleansing of an emotional cycle. If something needs to be gone from your life, if something needs to come to an end, an eclipse can help you to set the intention of completion in concrete in the external world.
