The Sane Food Solution – S Means SUSTAINABLE

Have you just had it with diets and the weight loss struggle? Up and down, back and forth, and what are you eating or not eating today? This diet? That plan? And, “Oh good grief, I’ll just have a few doughnuts!”

The Sane Food Solution is a completely different way of looking at food and eating. No matter what your goals are, The Sane Food Solution will help you create a way that works for you long term with food.

Each letter of Sane Food has its own meaning. S means sustainable. That means you don’t switch on and off from starving to bingeing any longer and your food and meal plan feel more like a comfortable old sweatshirt than a straitjacket. That means you can maintain this food plan long-term, through your sister’s wedding and your vacation to Disney.

A diet means a short-term period of starvation; your Sane Food plan means long-term, comfortable, sustainable food choices.

You have heard the word sustainable in other contexts… what does it mean around food? Mr. Google tells me that sustainable means “able to be maintained at a certain rate or level”. Mr. Google also says, “avoiding depletion of natural resources”.  That’s what recovery and your food plan need to be. You need to be able to maintain the food plan and the recovery program without undue effort, and you need to be able to continue maintaining the food plan and your recovery for the rest of your life happily. You may choose to make changes you want in some areas of your life. But The Sane Food Solution will help you choose and maintain these changes without the struggle and exhausting effort you are used to.

A food and recovery plan that really really works for you has to be defensible; that means it is able to last for a long time! That means it isn’t some fly by night diet, when you are counting the days till it is over! It needs to be a comfortable, useful way of living and enjoying your life. Yes, there will be a learning phase; yes, this will be a big change. But after that period, your food plan and recovery program will give you so many benefits that it is worth the work of making the change.

This Sane Food Solution is designed to improve the quality of your life; it implies responsible and proactive decision making that gets you to the core of the problems you are having with food in your life and helps you fix them long term. We will teach you to balance your body’s nutrient needs and your heart’s emotional needs, and help you to handle the nasty little voice in the back of your mind that constantly tells you this is hopeless. My problem is grazing. I eat healthy. But I am eating every 2 or 3 hours.

That means one of several things: a bad habit, not enough fluids, too little food at your last meal, or an addictive food is hiding somewhere, not enough of essential food or nutrient. We should sit down and figure it out!.

Could you explain, ‘not enough fluids ‘. Thank you.

The body needs an amount of fluid every day for it to continue to function effectively. Total lack of fluid could mean death within a few days. Sugar sweetened and artificially sweetened fluids do not count for your fluid intake. The National Academy of Science recommends 125 ounces (3.7 liters) for men and 91 ounces (2.7 liters) for women. But your height, weight, medical issues, current diet, the temperature where you are, your physical activity, and individual metabolic rate all affect how much water you need each day,
