This blog is a bit different from those I have been writing, but I hope you will like it.

It’s the middle of summer, and it is hard to stay on track some times. We want to relax, enjoy and have some fun. There is lots of chaos and changed schedules and staying focused can be very difficult. So, I want to offer help for the hard spots.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes life feels like too much to bear? Like you cannot make it any more and you need the food or some other drug to hold you up or get you through?

There are two solutions for this problem, and they both are in a song by WALK THE MOON called One Foot. You can get the whole recording here (and I hope you will)

But here are the lyrics that really struck my spirit:

Oh, through the wilderness
You and I we’re walking through the emptiness
Oh, my heart is a mess
Is it the only defense against the wilderness?

Cross my heart and hope to die
Taking this one step at a time
Got your back if you got mine
One foot in front of the other
One foot in front of the other
One foot in front of the other

One foot in front of the other
Oh, all that we have is each other
One foot in front of the other

In the so-called Land of the Free
One foot in front of the other
Don’t you know that all we have is each other
One foot in front of the other

Do you hear what the lyrics say? You don’t have to do it all at once. You don’t have to be perfect. But you take one step at a time in the direction you want to go, even though it seems really hard.

And you need to have some people who stand behind you, who have your back, who support you and what you believe in – for our purposes, a sponsor, and a group of safe and comfortable and trusted friends.

And a goal you want to move towards.

We’ll get back to food and eating and body weight next week, but I just needed to share this with you today. Please leave a comment and tell me how this feels to you. I’ll be waiting.

Blessings to you,

This humid weather is a killer for me. I am exhausted when I try to get outdoor work accomplished.I truly am simply putting one foot above the other. I really have to pay attention to hydration and rest breaks. Spent 6 hours cutting brush on my property and haven’t returned to “normal” fatigue levels since Monday. Must remember I am an old gal who just occasionally has the pep of a 48 year old ! Thanks for your blog.

I agree. We all need to be really careful about drinking enough fluids. Theresa

I so needed to read this today. Life has been posing challenges big and small the past couple of weeks. And it has been one step at a time. And now you remind me that’s OK — even better than OK!
