MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION

This is an eight-week group designed to help you learn the practice of mindfulness through a variety of different ways—sitting and walking meditation, gentle yoga, mindful eating, and interpersonal communication and relationships. It is based upon the model of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s teachings.

 Mindfulness invites us to relate to our lives with curiosity, self-compassion, and loving kindness. It helps us cultivate joy in daily activities and to learn to relate to challenging aspects of our lives without aggression or anxiety. Mindfulness is about being fully present to our experience, and about learning to take a sacred pause so that we can come home to the present moment.  It can help us recall that as Jon Kabat-Zinn says—when we are aware that we are breathing, we can remember that there is so much more right with us than there is wrong with us.
