I was discussing with my family what to write for a blog today, and my wonderful husband pointed me to three blogs I have already written on “that topic.”
So, HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the Dads who read this, and blessings to those of us who have Dads to turn to! I wish you all the very best. Today I want to share some wisdom my Dad taught me and, I’m sure other Dads have taught their children.
The first, “don’t buy milk from the hardware store” has a lot of meanings for me. It means pay attention to who you listen to in the world! When your mother-in-law has made it clear that she does not approve of your behavior, don’t keep going back and looking for her approval. Get the support and love you need from someone who has them to give. And when the accountant does your taxes. Pay attention to his doing them correctly; and if he makes errors and does not care, find a new accountant.
WHEN YOU ARE UNSURE OF THEIR MOTIVES, LOOK FOR THE PATH OF THE LITTLE GREEN DOLLARS.
When Nutrisystem offers men a weight loss diet consisting of burgers, fries, and pizza, where do the little green dollars go? When the cereal manufacturer adds a new food that is cheaper to make but more expensive and higher in sugars, where do the little green dollars go? When your gym charges monthly fees, to a number of patrons bigger than its capacity (lots of them won’t come in, ever) where do the little green dollars go? When the Nutrisystem client regains his weight and goes back to Nutrisystem, who wins?
THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS NOT TO GET TO THE END OF IT; THE PRUPOSE OF LIFE IS TO ENJOY THE TRIP.
Really? Are you enjoying your life in general? (Coronavirus aside) Is the life you have the life you want? What would you really like in your life? What stands in the way? Let’s go fix it.
When you listen to all the voices, all the people, individually and as a whole, what kind of music are they making? Is that what you want to listen to? Who or what will make your song sing?
This is a most profound life lesson. It will help you personally in listening to your own inner guidance and all of the Divine ones we listen to. We must selectively listen, and choose the voices which will help us create the life we want.
And if that voice does not work, we need to try another. Who can help you?
We are present to so many voices, so many skills, so many ideas and so much more. Learning and discovering how to listen to the voices is important to us all.
CHOOSE A LIFE YOU LOVE
I am so blessed. I had a father who believed in me, supported me emotionally and financially, and made it possible for me to get to freedom. Thank you, Daddy.
And blessings and thanks to all the fathers who love and believe in and support their children.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.
